What makes people doodle

Their pen goes round and round in circles as this person listens to the same sorry stories, but it helps their concentration as they diligently persist with repetitive tasks. Nevertheless, the large head with eyes looking up suggests they have confidence in their abilities, so are setting their sights on a higher position for themselves.

Drawing off the top of the page shows they feel limited and want to break into something new. At the moment this stress is finding an outlet in this disturbing doodle, but it may also be prompting them to take action to find more rewarding work. Eyes in doodles have two aspects: seeing and being seen, so the doodler may be observant or enjoy attention, have her eye on someone or fear the watchful eye.

There is optimism in this bright eye, but sadness in its dark colour and lines beneath, frustration in the roughly drawn upper lashes and anxiety in the peripheral shading. She may feel overlooked and want the opportunity to shine. The rapid, simple sketch of a broad nose and closed mouth shows her intelligence, discretion, drive and efficiency in being able to recognise what is essential and prioritise.

The holly with its cluster of berries, soft prickles and extended leaves suggests she has an affectionate nature as well as a sharp mind, and may be looking out for something more challenging and enjoyable to do. Like a strange sea creature this doodle emerged slowly from the depths of the unconscious, growing ever larger and invading the space. This carefully worked drawing with its smooth unbroken lines shows great concern over presentation and correctness, with close attention to finer points and details.

Patterns of checks and parallel lines indicate that routine work is approached diligently and tasks carried out in a disciplined, methodical way.

However, the movement in the waving tentacles and lively variety of patterns suggest this person is also restless and finding work dull, so is putting out feelers and considering options.

The horn shape rising to the edge of the page shows ambition and desire to move on, but the coils turning this way and that reflect mixed feelings and uncertainty as to which direction to take. If the arrow is pointing upwards - you're a people oriented person, if it points down - you're self-focused; a leftward arrow means that you're stuck in the past, and if it points to the right, you look forward to the future.

You want to be the center of attention; you want all eyes on you when you walk into a room and to turn heads wherever you go, but if the stars you draw have too many points or if they are drawn separately from the center, it could be a sign that you are suffering from depression.

Drawing perky-looking flowers and the sun while talking on the phone indicates that you're satisfied about what's going on and probably fantasise about the good things awaiting you in your future. These scribbles reveal your positive attitude and the fact that you are in good spirits.

Symmetrical shapes reveal your love of order and your disposition to thoroughly plan and calculate things. You know exactly what you want, your life goals are set and you will stand by your opinion no matter what. It looks like recently you found yourself in a particularly unpleasant and uncomfortable situation.

If drawings like these are constantly present, chances are you're probably dealing with some hidden issues that have something to do with your inability to resolve a particular situation, or you're trying to find yourself and your mission in life and have doubts about the path you're on.

Your number one priority is to maintain peace and harmony in your life, and you also want to settle down and maybe start a family. Other people's problems don't bother you much. As I mentioned before, I like to draw eyes.

Eyes are unique, detailed, and are open to a world of possibilities. Small eyes show signs of an introvert, while big eyes show signs of sensitivity. Doodling can improve your psychological and emotional states, and it allows you to express yourself. Save Save. Toggle navigation.
